These thefts have all occurred weekdays during daylight hours from boat trailers with unlocked spare tires.

While the Sheriff's Department has increased patrol at the parks, consider locking spare tires to your trailers as additional theft deterrent (as seen below).

Please contact Calumet County Crimestoppers by phone 1-877-SOLVE-CRIME or Text-a-Tip to 274637 Keyword: CALUMET with any information regarding these thefts.

Thieves Posing as Utility Workers - Elderly Targeted

There have been incidents throughout northeast Wisconsin in which elderly people are being targeted by people posing as utility workers or tree trimmers. Often times two suspects then ask to come inside the residence to check the electrical box. This gives them an opportunity to come inside the house and look for money or jewelry. Sometimes,
they ask for some sort of payment and then follow the resident into the house to see where the money is kept.

These do not appear to be random acts and it appears that they are targeting the elderly. Please pass this message onto your elderly family and neighbors. Stress that they do not have to let anybody into their house. Most utility companies will make pre-arranged appointments to be at your house and it would be suspicious for utility workers to randomly show up at your house.
